Huntsville’s Mayor, Nancy Alcock and the town’s CAO, Denise Corry took to social media yesterday to explain the events that led to the closing of town hall for two days following a cyber security breach on the weekend.

Corry, says that while town hall re-opened yesterday, the extent of the impact is still being evaluated, adding that systems will be gradually restored, and operations will resume with limited services.

Corry advised residents to call 705-789-1751 or visit the town’s website for information on available services. She explained that the attack was detected on Sunday through the town’s network security tools and vigilant staff. Measures were taken to shut down certain systems and prevent further unauthorized access.

Corry mentioned that the incident has been reported to the appropriate authorities, and the town is cooperating with the investigation.

Mayor Nancy Alcock acknowledged the impact on the community and thanked residents for their patience during the investigation.
